Board reports $9,000 settlement in Dean lawsuit; ZBA members must complete disabilities training

Village President Timothy H. Owens told the board the village settled the Adriane Dean lawsuit for $9,000 and that Dean agreed to give up the associated ".COM" domain name, avoiding court. "The good thing is that we do not have to go to court for the case," Owens said during the Oct. 8 meeting.
The president also said the Zoning Board of Appeals members and the village attorney need to complete Disabilities Awareness Training. The settlement and the training requirement were presented as part of the president's report; no formal motion or vote on the settlement was recorded in the public minutes.
Attorney Jim Stevens later reported on other legal matters, including a missed court appearance by farmer Dylan Peters with a next court date of Nov. 8 and outstanding questions about water pressure and Leonard Road that remain pending with the EPA and the county.
