The council adopted ordinance 26-5-42 to revise the code of ordinances on outdoor burning, creating clear criteria for when a burn permit may be issued, denied, suspended or revoked and setting up an administrative appeals process.
Staff told the council the ordinance had been through a workshop the previous month and incorporated input from the fire department to clarify what counts as an approved burn and streamline permit procedures. "Had conversations with the fire department and I believe this meets their request of having clear defined terms of what an approved burn would be," staff said.
A council member made a motion to adopt the ordinance, a second followed and a voice vote carried the motion. The Chair asked the clerk to note the motion carried in the record.
