Board hears equity plan and superintendent proposes student cabinet to amplify student voice

During her report, Dr. Woodcock told the board that schools are forming equity teams and that the district has scheduled training for those teams on Oct. 22. She said equity work will move from a siloed committee model toward applying an equity lens across committees and every area of district work.
Dr. Woodcock also proposed forming a superintendent's student cabinet: an application-based group with representatives from 9th grade through senior year that would meet with the superintendent monthly to advise on district happenings and bring student voice directly to the table. "My hope after this 1st year of intense training is to move that into an equity lens for all of our committees and all of our work," she said. The cabinet is slated to start in November once students are acclimated to their schedules.
