Caldwell County Schools board agrees to extend state-approved bonuses to all district employees

Caldwell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Howe told the board that the state budget approved summer bonuses for school employees and said district leaders asked the local board to extend those payments to employees not covered by state pay.
"The state gave approval for those bonuses to be paid, but they only gave approval for state paid employees," Dr. Howe said. "David Johnson and I came to the board last week and requested that the board consider paying those bonuses for all of our local and federally funded employees, and they all graciously approved that will happen." The board approved the request by voice vote.
Dr. Howe also reported the district served 416,486 meals this summer across two sites and thanked staff for their work. The board heard the update as part of the superintendent's opening report for the school year.
