An RCD representative said the proposals will target cropland, rangeland and water-efficiency projects across a Central Sierra region that includes Amador County and neighboring jurisdictions. The proposals would fund technical assistance and capital improvements—drip irrigation, solar pump conversions, hedgerows, windbreaks and compost application—allowing under-resourced producers to apply for and receive funding.
The board voted 5-0 to send letters of support for the Placer Resource Conservation District (cropland), the Amador RCD (rangeland/livestock support) and Sloughhouse RCD (water efficiency), enabling the region to apply to several state grant programs and help socially disadvantaged and beginning farmers access funds.
