Grassland committee reports prescribed burn success; USFWS contract revisions and other management updates

Grassland committee members told the commission that a prescribed burn in the Clinton Lakes grassland succeeded but cottonwoods are re-sprouting in the southern half of the site. Committee members also said the DNR and the National Wild Turkey Federation are offering turkey patches for sale as a revenue/management option.
Kyle Thornton reported he received a contract from U.S. Fish and Wildlife related to grassland work at Clinton Trails County Park, returned revisions to that contract, and provided an estimated time request; Thornton is also exploring options to harvest alfalfa growing at Clinton Trails. These items will inform upcoming grassland management and partner agreements.
