The Amador County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution declaring August 2026 Child Support Awareness Month following a presentation by Kim Britt, executive director of the Central Sierra Child Support Agency.
Britt told the board the agency is a joint powers authority serving Alpine, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties and currently assists about 1,067 families in Amador County. "We distributed over $2,700,000 in child support that all went directly to families here in Amador County," Britt said, and described voluntary parentage declarations and assistance with court navigation as part of the agency's services. Britt noted the agency is fully state and federally funded and does not draw from the county general fund.
The board read the resolution into the record and approved it on a unanimous voice vote; staff and agency representatives posed for a photo afterward. The proclamation is intended to raise community awareness of child-support services and reduce stigma about case openings.
