Karen VanCura appeared during the visitors portion of the Sept. 23 meeting to dispute water charges for 904 E Union. VanCura said she has never lived at the property (she said it is owned and occupied by her stepbrother) and presented a timeline of events going back to 2019 involving former City Clerk Angie Keage. Mayor Goldsmith told VanCura the City will place a lien on the property and remove responsibility from her; VanCura asked for that assurance in writing and the council agreed to send a letter.
The minutes record the council’s commitment to provide written confirmation that VanCura is not responsible for the bill; the council did not take further action on the underlying billing at the meeting beyond promising the letter.
