Council hears water-loss inquiry and updates on meter replacements and filter failure

At the Sept. 23 meeting a visitor, Donald Baxter, asked the council about the City’s water loss and requested information on billed cost per gallon and the number of water bills issued; Baxter said he will prepare numbers for the council. Separately, Commissioner Glenn and employee Stevie Guinn reported the Street and Water Departments have been replacing meters and conducting general cleanup work.
Commissioner Arkebauer reported that Filter 2 at the water plant lost its media over the weekend and will require repair; council discussed repairing both filters but made no decision. The council also agreed the Mayor will meet with Roger from Farnsworth Group to follow up on the IRWA water-rate study that was previously submitted.
