How Concord’s MBTA assessment could fund local buses and what communities would pay

LRTA officials told Concord’s Transportation Advisory Committee that a state reassessment process allows communities without fixed‑route service to divert their MBTA assessment to a regional transit authority. "What happens with that 462,000 is because your funds are now now going to an RTA, the 462 gets reassessed to the core communities within the MBTA," David Bradley explained during the presentation.
Committee members raised fairness concerns; one participant said the idea made her "uncomfortable" because Concord is relatively wealthy and she wanted concrete examples of which municipalities would see a slightly higher payment. LRTA responded that the reassessment is calculated by population across roughly 60–65 core communities and offered to return with exact percentage impacts.
