Jericho board grants tenure to staff and appoints Brian Cummings as high‑school co‑principal

The board then considered an appointment recommendation from the administration for Brian Cummings as co‑principal at Jericho High School, with an accompanying letter from parents in favor.
Board member Sam Perlman objected to the timing of the high‑school appointment, urging that the incoming superintendent be allowed to weigh in. Perlman said, “In 30 something days, for the first time in 30 years, we will have a new superintendent, Dr. Robert Kravitz...Consequently, it is Dr. Kravitz who should be making this proposition to the board after thoughtful and thorough evaluation.” Administrators responded that Dr. Kravitz had already visited campus, met with staff, and expressed support for the administrative recommendation. The board voted; the motion to appoint Brian Cummings carried.
