Clerk announces candidate filing window; mayor reports absence and next meeting date set

The City Administrator/Clerk reported that affidavits of candidacy for mayor (two-year term) and council seats (two- and four-year terms) may be filed at the city office between July 14, 2026 and July 28, 2026, inclusive. This filing window was announced as an administrative item during the July 20 council meeting.
Mayor Patrick Haynes said he was unable to attend the SW Regional Development tour and will not be able to attend the council meeting scheduled for Sept. 8; Trustee Rosie DeZeeuw will serve in his place. The council set the next regular meeting for Monday, August 3, 2026 at 5:30 P.M. The meeting adjourned by motion.
