District staff details rotating turf system to limit wear and projected 12–15 year lifespan
Summary
District staff described a rotating-square turf system for high-wear areas that they said would reduce recurring patch costs (estimated $3,000–$5,000 every 1–2 years without the system) and said the recommended turf should last about 12–15 years.

Jason explained the turf system the board is considering, saying it includes removable square sections in batter’s boxes and near the pitching mound that can be rotated to avoid concentrated wear. "That way, those high use areas don't wear out and get a hole in them," he said. He explained that without the system the district might pay roughly $3,000–$5,000 each time worn sections were replaced every one to two years.
Jason and Dr. Bridal recommended the higher-grade turf for durability, citing solid fibers in the upgraded turf versus split fibers in the base product. Jason said the recommended turf is already used by Hudson, Solon, Jackson, Walsh and Midview, and that the life expectancy for the quoted system is "12 to 15" years.
