City previews downtown garage space‑count signage to ease parking and direct visitors

Paige Langlands of Parking Logix demonstrated sensors and signage that track entries and exits and display available spaces and directional arrows for specific garages. She said the system can be customized for design and colors, expanded to additional garages and can provide an API so parking counts appear on the city’s website.
Councilmembers asked about adding variable messages and event notices; the vendor said the proposed signs focus on space counts but variable‑message trailers and programmable VMS units could be provided as a separate option. Staff said the Historic Preservation Commission and Public Art Committee would be consulted on sign aesthetics and placement.
No procurement approval was requested at the workshop; staff will return with procurement and design recommendations if council wants to proceed.
