North Henderson tables ballpark weed-control decision after mixed estimates

The Village of North Henderson delayed action April 22 on renewing a contract for ballpark weed control while officials seek clarification on who will spray and a revised price without fertilizer.
Clerk Melody Hall said she had a message for absent Trustee Angie Chandlee and that "she is unsure as to what Alexis is going to do about spraying the weeds at the ball park." Hall reported Ty's Tree & Lawn Care had proposed a $500 renewal for two sprayings. Hall added that she spoke with Liquid Green, which quoted $175 per spraying, recommended two sprayings and said weed control along the fence would be an additional $100; Hall noted that the spraying quote included fertilizer with crabgrass and weed control.
President Ron Brown commented the ball field does not need to be fertilized. Trustee Diane Brown moved to table the matter until the village can confirm what Alexis will do and obtain a new estimate without fertilizer; Trustee Cheryl Stevens seconded and the motion carried.
The trustees did not commit to a specific provider and asked staff to return with clarified responsibilities and an updated bid that excludes fertilizer.
