CRA updates work plan: Innovation Walk progress, Centennial Park blue-light tests and stadium demolition timing

CRA staff provided the board’s quarterly work-plan update, outlining active projects across Cleveland Avenue, MLK and downtown expansion areas.
Highlights included a uniform ADA-compliant bus-shelter program managed by LeeTran (estimated 9–12 months for permitting and installation), RVI-led Cleveland landscaping currently under FDOT review, the Gateway Garden nearing final landscaping (contractor anticipates completion by early next year) and the Innovation Walk program’s Phase 1 tests for embedded blue-light panels in Centennial Park.
Staff said the Innovation Walk master plan will take about 8–12 months and that the first phase (blue-light testing) is proceeding; they showed sample test panels and said the panels charge during the day and glow at night. On stadium demolition, staff said city procurement is moving forward and clarified a previously anticipated county contribution for demolition (about $1,000,000) is no longer available. The CRA noted it retained budget authority for partial demolition funding and will coordinate with the city on next steps.
Staff also reviewed program status for the residential paint program (30 sign-ups, 12 completed so far in expansion area) and said three home-preservation projects with Habitat for Humanity are moving through the pipeline. The board received the update for information; no formal votes were required.
