Lessee says Fort Myers Country Club restaurant on track to reopen by June after structural repairs

The city conducted large structural and electrical repairs following damage from Hurricane Ian and separated meters to help apportion utility costs between the clubhouse, restaurant and cart-charging facilities.
Kevin King, the lessee, said structural work is complete and he is now rebuilding the interior and installing finishes. "We're a month or 2 to 3, 4 months at the very most off from completing a 100% complete," King said during his presentation; when pressed on a firm milestone he said he could confidently predict an end-of-June completion. King and staff said a small change order for stair modifications will appear on the next council agenda; staff also noted the patio and exterior improvements the city agreed to cover under the lease. Councilmembers thanked the lessee and encouraged the project team to continue coordination on financing and operations.
