Edisto Art Guild granted $5,500 for 2026 Arts in the Park summer concert series

The ATAX Advisory Board voted April 30 to provide $5,500 to the Edisto Art Guild for its 2026 Arts in the Park summer concert series, a free set of four concerts scheduled in May, June, July and August.
Guild President Lisa Harrell and Arts in the Park Chair Sherry Shipes presented a promotional flyer and noted the series was founded by Cheryl Van Metre. Harrell said the series will be continued "in her honor following her passing this year." Emma Hart moved to approve $5,500 in ATAX funding; Marie Bost seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The funds are intended to support concert production and promotion to attract visitors and residents. Staff will coordinate with the Guild on event logistics and ensure ATAX-eligible expenditures are documented.
