Animal Lovers of Edisto receives $5,000 in ATAX support for Paddle for Pups fundraiser

ALOE board members Lisa Harrell and Sherry Shipes presented the application, explaining the event will include arts and crafts and food vendors, live musicians, dog contests, and a kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding parade. Shipes said the ATAX request is intended to "help attract additional SUP users and kayakers to the Town." Marie Bost moved to approve the request; Judy Blancett seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The funds are intended to support organizational expenses tied to the event, including veterinary care, food, and shelter supplies, and to help draw paddling visitors to Edisto Beach. Staff will work with the organization on the event logistics and allowable uses under ATAX guidelines.
