CRA staff shares McCallum Hall design plans and says agency will act as developer

CRA staff provided a status update on McCallum Hall and on community engagement plans, saying the agency will serve as developer for the property and will move forward with design work.
"I emailed to you all McCallum. The McCallum Hall updates that were presented to the board this past Monday," Michelle (staff member) told the advisory board and said Parker Majes Smith will be working on the design. She said staff are scheduling a kickoff meeting this week and expect to begin community update meetings at the end of February. "We will be coming back to the community as I promised during the listening session to share the progress as we go along," she said.
Michelle also said the CRA is discussing funding mechanisms and that the design will inform cost estimates and phasing. She said the first community update meeting will be at the CRA office on Feb. 26 and that future updates will rotate locations to reach different neighborhoods.
Board members asked whether the CRA would issue an RFP for a developer once a plan is finalized; Michelle said the CRA intends to build the project itself rather than issuing an RFP. Staff pledged to share designs and associated cost estimates as they become available.
