The Rio Communities City Council approved an authorization to expend up to $6,100 for council members to attend the New Mexico Municipal League (NMML) conference in Las Cruces from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28, 2026. The motion passed by roll call 4-0.
A staff member explained the authorization is the maximum allowance under current policy and covers registration fees, per diem, lodging and mileage reimbursement. "That is the maximum allowance according to current policy," staff said, adding there is a reduced registration for attending only a single day. Councilors said some members anticipate attending a subset of conference days to limit costs and that staff built a modest cushion into the authorization to account for price changes.
