During the June 10 meeting the Judicial & Public Safety Committee recorded approval of multiple resolutions covering personnel, continuity planning, contracts and grant acceptance. Notable actions recorded in the minutes include: the authorization to fill a vacant full-time Emergency Services Dispatcher (6-26-JP-1); authorization to fill one part-time Deputy Fire Coordinator (6-26-JP-2); authorization to fill one Deputy Director of Emergency Services (6-26-JP-3); adoption of the amended and restated Cayuga County Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) Volume I and adoption of Volume II for county departments (6-26-JP-4); and a probation contract amendment authorization (6-26-JP-5).
The committee also approved Sheriff-related resolutions including a salary adjustment and contract amendment for a special patrol officer in Union Springs Central School District (6-26-JP-7), an amendment with NICK'S RIDE 4 FRIENDS, INC. to increase the hourly rate for Peer Support Services (6-26-JP-8), and a contract with CLPS LLC to provide a threat assessment and management software platform for the Cayuga County Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Team and area school districts (6-26-JP-9). The committee authorized filling a vacant Deputy Sheriff Sergeant position (6-26-JP-10), accepted a State STRIVE grant award of $19,000 and amended the 2026 budget accordingly (6-26-JP-11), and authorized a transfer of salary funds to overtime in the Jail budget (6-26-JP-12). Resolution 6-26-JP-6 authorizing the Chairman to fill the STOP-DWI Coordinator passed with one recorded opposition (Pecher). The meeting adjourned at 4:51 PM on a motion by Hans Pecher and second by Ben Vitale.
