Nutter Fort council approves basement window replacement, delays HVAC decision

Recorder Natalie Haddix called the meeting to order and reported that the Town Council voted unanimously March 10 to accept a bid for three basement windows at Town Hall from All About Glass (submitted by Norm Weaver).
Mayor Rezin D. Hudkins, IV provided a written recommendation included in the agenda packet: "At this time, I recommend moving forward with the window replacement project first and addressing the HVAC upgrades afterward," language the Council cited when approving the windows bid. Councilor Charlene Louk moved to accept the bid and Councilor Rick Lafferty seconded; Councilor Sam Maxson (via phone) voted yes and the motion passed unanimously.
Councilors also agreed to postpone a decision on broader heating and cooling quotes until additional research is completed. Charlene Louk moved to revisit the Town Hall heating/cooling quotes after staff follow-up; the motion passed on a roll call that recorded the members present and those absent. The Council recorded that two written quotes had been received for window replacement and that the window job would proceed while the HVAC scope is clarified.
The vote authorizes the town to accept the All About Glass bid for the three basement windows; the Council did not approve any HVAC work at this meeting and asked staff to return with more information at a future meeting.
