Myrtle Beach International Jetport terminal expansion near completion; $4.7M GMP savings cited

Judy, the airport representative, told the INR committee the terminal expansion project is nearing completion and running ahead of schedule by about three weeks; she said work will be completed in time for next season and will include new gates, electrochromic glazing on the west face, clerestory glass and enhanced concession space. She said the project will add six gates and include a new restaurant and retail vendor agreements already selected.
Judy also reported a forecasted gross maximum-price savings of approximately $4,700,000 and said the savings allow the county to install matching terrazzo flooring and redo first-level restrooms without additional bond issuance. She said the remaining roughly $5.3 million would be covered using passenger facility charge (PFC) funds or airport revenues and that staff has contingency plans should carriers such as Spirit reduce service in future seasons.
