Horry County financial update: revenues, expenditures on track as property-tax receipts expected in December

Finance staff reported $35.5 million in revenues and $82.2 million in expenditures across funds for the month ending Sept. 30; the general fund showed $24.0 million in revenues (8.4% of budget) and $63.6 million in expenditures (22% of budget). Miss Norman presented the county's financial figures for the month ending Sept. 30, telling the council that across all funds the county recorded $35,500,000 in revenues and $82,200,000 in expenditures.
"Looking at general fund revenues, we are at $24,000,000, which is 8.4% of the annual budget," Miss Norman said, and added that most property-tax revenue is expected in the December–January timeframe. She also reported that year-over-year general fund revenues are 4.7% higher and expenditures are 7.8% higher than the prior year.
The presenter walked the council through special-revenue fund positions: a $7,000,000 net change in the fire fund, $4,200,000 in the road maintenance fund, $362,000 in beach renourishment, $2,200,000 in stormwater, $915,000 in recreation, and $1,600,000 in waste management recycling.
Council members asked no substantive follow-up questions, and the chair thanked Miss Norman for the update. No formal action was required; staff flagged that year-to-date percentages reflect the first quarter timing and that larger receipts will post when property taxes are collected.
