Commissioners approve travel, advertise for appraiser and authorize AAA Collections contract

The commission approved a travel request for the Director of Equalization to attend the Vanguard User Group Meeting in Oacoma, S.D., on Sept. 9–11, 2026, and authorized an appraiser to attend the SDAAO Annual School in Pierre, S.D., on Sept. 14–18 (motion by Steve Rhody, seconded by Harry Mewherter; unanimous). The board also approved advertising for a full-time appraiser in the Equalization Office from July 29 to August 14.
In separate action the board approved a contract with AAA Collections for county lien collection services (motion by Rhody, seconded by Mewherter; all voted yes). These routine administrative approvals finalize travel plans, begin recruitment for an appraiser position, and secure a vendor for lien collection.
