Police grant, $4.6M emerging contaminants award and streets overlay update reported to council

In the staff updates portion of the July 27 meeting Police Chief Munsterman reported the department received a Missouri Blue Shield Grant in the amount of $28,985.50 and that the department will purchase eight SWAT vests at $3,641 each. "These vests are heavier plated vests and hold rifle rounds," Munsterman said, explaining they are intended for SWAT officers in field operations.
Public Works Project Manager Clifford reported an award notice for a $4.6 million emerging contaminants grant with no local match and gave an overlay project update, saying the planned streets overlay work was delayed by weather and that he will share the contractor’s start date and schedule once available. Clifford summarized: "the city received notice of award of $4.6M in grant funding with no local match."
