The Town of Ballston Zoning Board of Appeals on Aug. 5 approved a variance allowing a detached pole-barn garage at 172 Charlton Road to sit 17 feet from the side lot line, granting 33 feet of relief from the 50-foot side-yard setback requirement.
Tim Holder, the property owner, told the board he made no changes since his last appearance and said he was "considering having a wider door instead of two doors but there will be no changes to the footprint of the garage." The board opened the public hearing at 6:31 p.m.; no one spoke and the hearing was closed at 6:32 p.m.
Vice Chairman Patrick Whitton moved to grant the variance and Board Member Steve Merchant seconded. The motion carried on a unanimous vote of members present. The variance allows the proposed garage to be built as shown on the applicant's plan.
The approval followed the board's review of the application under local zoning requirements and finished as the only completed vote on the evening's agenda. No conditions beyond the submitted plan were recorded in the minutes. The board did not list any required further filings in the minutes; applicants should consult the Town's permitting staff for next steps.
