Disaster Assistance Center has 1,500 visits; Red Cross begins intake and direct financial assistance

Chandra told commissioners the county's disaster assistance center has recorded more than 1,500 individual visits over four days and will remain open through Wednesday, operating 9 a.m.–6 p.m. "Over the 4 days we have been open, we've had more than 1,500 individual visits," she said, and county transportation (STA) remains available to bring shelter residents to the DAC as evacuation levels change.
Chandra also said Red Cross National has approved direct financial assistance and started intake; Red Cross is providing prepaid cards and coordinating PPE and debris-cleanup kits at several pickup sites to help residents preparing to return. She said the county will publish pickup locations via the PIO and share a resource packet with commissioners.
