Finance director flags revenue timing and jail overtime in monthly report

Commissioner of Finance Stacy Housworth presented the monthly financial reports and answered members’ questions about notable variances. Chair Scott J. Van Etten asked whether the Community Services revenue shortfall (six months into the year: $4.5 million this year versus $6.2 million at the same point last year) reflected timing or a permanent change; Housworth said, "It is difficult to estimate because it takes so long for their billings to catch up."
Van Etten also questioned a Probation revenue increase (from $200,000 last year at six months to $450,000 this year). Jack K. Wheeler said he believes that increase "represents the second year of State funding we received." The committee noted the jail overtime budget had reached $439,000 of a $650,000 appropriation after six months, compared with $275,000 at the same point last year; staff said they would check 2025 numbers and report back.
