Cherokee County commissioners approve routine minutes, payroll and several hires; fence-viewing order assigned

At the April 14, 2025 meeting the Board unanimously approved minutes, payables and payroll, hired a Utility Operator and outside counsel, authorized a letter of support for SEK-CAP, approved a cereal malt beverage license and issued a fence-viewing determination assigning maintenance responsibilities between adjoining property owners.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved routine meeting business at its April 14, 2025 session, including the minutes and payables from the April 7 meeting and payroll as presented. Commissioners Jack Garner, Cory Moates and Chair Myra Carlisle Frazier recorded unanimous votes on these procedural items.
Beyond routine approvals, the Board acted on several personnel and administrative items. Commissioners approved hiring Treg Easley as a Utility Operator effective April 14, 2025, at a starting rate of $16.00 per hour; they authorized a contract for zoning consultant Mel Hess at $20.00 per hour for the Planning Commission; and they retained Attorney Matt Bonner for a fence-viewing matter at $150.00 per hour. The Board also authorized Chair Frazier to sign a letter of support for a Federal Black Grant requested by SEK-CAP and approved a Cereal Malt Beverage License for the Downstream Development Authority.
