Cherokee County commissioners approve routine minutes, payables and personnel moves

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners convened April 28 in Columbus and moved through several routine items, approving minutes, payables and payroll from the April 21 meeting. "Commissioner Moates moved to approve the minutes as presented from April 21, 2025, meeting. Commissioner Garner seconded. Motion passed unanimously," the minutes state.
The board also approved personnel and administrative items. County Clerk Rebecca Brassart asked the board to approve a $2,800 payment to CIC for on-site budget training and consulting; "Commissioner Frazier moved to approve the payment of $2800 to CIC. Commissioner Garner seconded. Motion passed unanimously." The board approved merit pay increases for two county employees: Cassy Spoonemore’s hourly rate was raised from $17.00 to $18.00 and Michelle Mosler’s from $15.50 to $16.00. The meeting concluded with a scheduled ribbon-cutting for the Rainbow Bridge on May 2, 2025, and an adjournment at 10:22 a.m.
