Dixon to pilot resident compost giveaway; volunteer day planned

Public Works Director Lauren told the commission the city will pilot a compost giveaway program in the coming month that will give residents free compost on specific days at the city compost yard. Lauren said each resident will receive coupons that can be redeemed for up to 10 yards of compost on designated pickup dates.
Lauren also announced a volunteer day targeted at an underfunded area on Park Lane scheduled for Oct. 18 and confirmed that a donated bench plaque (referred to as Scotty's bench) arrived and will be affixed at Women’s Improvement Club Park within the next two weeks. "We are piloting this year a compost giveaway, which means free compost if you are a resident," Lauren said.
