Marlborough School Committee reviews 2025-26 calendar and flags staffing gaps

Administrators reviewed the opening-of-school schedule for 2025-26: Leadership Staff Retreat Aug. 18-19 (this year including lead teachers), returning staff dates (Aug. 18; all staff return Aug. 25-26), New Staff Orientation Aug. 20-22, grades 1-12 first day Aug. 27, and Pre-K/K first day Sept. 4. The committee received the list of important upcoming dates and asked for confirmation of staffing and safety coverage.
The minutes record that "all crossing guard positions are filled" and that there are currently 12 open teaching positions, with six of those hires reported as in process. Committee members also raised a traffic-commission discussion about whether to add an additional crosswalk at the other end of Grace Circle near Jaworek.
