Public works director: Caltrans approves street closure for Dec. 6 tree lighting; staffing hires and recruitments under way

Public Works Director Lauren Coteau updated the commission on park operations, staffing and the upcoming holiday event planning.
"The Christmas tree lighting is on Saturday, December 6, but we just just received approval from Caltrans," Coteau said, confirming the planned street closure for the event. She said the approval makes the planned downtown closure official and the department hopes the event will grow in coming years.
Coteau also briefed commissioners on operations: the department is in the shoulder season for irrigation and is recruiting for several positions. A recently filled internal promotion placed Manny as the senior parks maintenance worker at Hall Park; the department will open recruitment for a parks maintenance worker and has approved a new transit manager position that will be posted soon. Coteau said staff are in the onboarding and interview phases for several roles as the town grows.
