Cayuga committee deems Town of Scipio data-center moratorium a local matter

The Cayuga County GML 239-l, m & n Review Committee reviewed the Town of Scipio proposed local law to enact a moratorium on data centers, accessory data centers, and cryptocurrency data mines. On a motion by Kathleen Cuddy, seconded by Doug Kierst, the Committee "determined that the action appears to have no intermunicipal concerns and to be of local concern only." The motion was recorded as approved with all voting AYE.
Committee minutes state the decision was based on the materials submitted by the Town. Because the Committee concluded there were no intermunicipal impacts, the referral will not be advanced for county-level objection under GML §239-l, §239-m, and §239-n.
