Board moves emergency stabilization contract for Sandy River force main to business meeting

The county's water environment services staff asked the board to advance an emergency temporary-stabilization contract with Connell Construction and Demolition Corporation for the Sandy River Lane force main to the Thursday business meeting consent agenda.
Ron Waringa, deputy director of Water Environment Services, told commissioners that flood-related channel migration and bank erosion had exposed the force main and that the contract is for placing rock barbs above and below the line while a longer-term replacement project proceeds. "The in water work window ends on August 31, so we only have a few weeks to get this project done," Waringa said. He asked the board to allow the item onto the consent agenda so the contractor could mobilize quickly.
Commissioners probed the timeline and asked staff to include a brief history of prior investments in the packet; the board agreed to move the item to the Thursday business meeting for formal approval.
