County OKs $179,001 in opioid-settlement spending for oversight, pain summit and syringe boxes

The board voted 4–0 to allocate $179,001.65 of previously authorized opioid-settlement funds to three targeted items for the current fiscal year.
Health, Housing & Human Services director Mary Rumbaugh and public-health division director Kim LaCroix recommended $125,000 to support administration, planning and grantee oversight; $11,000 for a Clackamas County Pain Summit to improve coordination and referrals; and $43,165 to add and service three syringe-disposal boxes for one year. Rumbaugh said the county expects additional settlement payments this year and next and recommended holding the remaining balance in Fund 230 for future needs.
The board approved the spending requests and asked staff to return with updates on remaining balances and how future settlement receipts will be used to support the recovery campus loan modeling and other programs.
