Dixon’s Parkway overpass wins federal grant; funds expected late year to early next year

City of Dixon officials said the Parkway overpass project has secured federal grant funding and will include a bike lane and pedestrian path along the north side of the new structure.
"We did get the grant from the federal government. We're in the process right now to get the funds obligated by the federal government. We're expecting sometime between November and January, we should be getting those funds obligated," Christopher Fong, the city engineer and director of utilities, said.
Fong explained that once federal funds are obligated the city can move to advertise the project for bid; without obligation, federal grant funds cannot be used. He said the overpass will connect Parkway to Pitskill Road and is intended to include active‑transportation elements to improve bicycle and pedestrian connectivity.
City staff said the project remains on a federal funding timetable and will require standard grant administration steps before procurement and construction can start.
