Dixon outreach draws 921 survey responses, officials say

At a City of Dixon workshop on the community‑based transportation plan, Rochelle Sherlock, the DSTA facilitator leading outreach, said 921 surveys were returned as part of an extensive engagement effort.
"We had 921 surveys returned," Sherlock said, noting outreach at Rotary, Dixon High School, veterans homes, the senior center and multiple pop‑ups across the city. Officials said the response was unusually high for the community and that staff examined respondents’ age, race/ethnicity and income to ensure broad representation.
The survey results identified medical appointments (about 19 percent), parks and recreation (about 22 percent) and school/daycare trips (about 17 percent) among the most difficult destinations to reach by current transit. Residents also raised walking concerns — pavement condition, obstacles and missing sidewalks — and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Sherlock said participants suggested possible solutions including expanded weekend service, additional bus runs during school commute hours, distribution of bus passes to targeted groups and increased multilingual information. City staff said the outreach will feed the final CBTTP report, expected to be posted on the city and SDA websites once it is completed and approved.
The facilitator asked attendees to take part in prioritization exercises during the workshop and to submit additional comments on a card or via the Solano Mobility call center.
