Engineering update: subdivisions near completion, Park Lane well testing and Chrome‑6 compliance work underway

The engineering department provided a comprehensive verbal update covering development, utility projects and staffing.
Staff reported that multiple subdivisions—Valley Glen Phase 3 Unit 2, Valley Glen Phase 4 Unit 1 and various Homestead villages—are largely built out with final inspections and city acceptance processes underway. Park Lane’s potable well is complete and performance testing was slated to begin the day after the meeting; if successful the city will accept the well after the required test period. Pond D and a stormwater pump station are now operating under city management, and AT&T fiber installation and downtown water main replacement work are near completion.
Engineering staff said they are understaffed in key positions: since March the senior civil position supporting the commission has been vacant, leaving a small engineering staff; council authorized consultant staff augmentation through the end of the year to help with workloads. The department also reported a required Chrome‑6 compliance plan due to the state by October and described pilot treatment tests and deep‑well options as potential remediation pathways.
