Santos highlighted the Parkway Boulevard Overcrossing as the single largest cost and said the city was awarded a $25,200,000 federal Railroad Crossing Elimination grant. He described federal obligations and permitting steps, saying the Federal Railroad Administration typically requires 6–18 months to obligate funds; staff are aiming to break ground in Q1 2026 and forecast an approximately 24‑month construction schedule, weather permitting.
Commissioners asked about specific items (roundabouts at Pitt School Road were not included this year) and about Fire Station 82 funding; Santos clarified the CIP shows initial funding years and that additional funds are carried forward as needed. The CIP update was presented for review and to solicit any commission recommendations before the next council and parks commission hearings.
