Staff: Hastings street‑light project to start about seven months after supplies arrive; tentative Hastings Library opening Sept. 9
Summary
County staff told the board that vendor FPL expects to order supplies soon and the project could start around February–March 2027; staff also reported grants were ratified July 17, and that the Hastings Library has a tentative opening date of Sept. 9 while soil contamination at a nearby site will require later remediation.
Megan Wright, speaking for county staff, updated the Cultural Resources Review Board on several Hastings-area projects. She said county obligations to FPL are complete and that FPL "had previously indicated to the county that the project start date would be about 7 months after everything was received from the county, which means we can likely expect the project to begin February or March 2027."
Wright also reported that grant submissions for Hastings archives digitization and the southern portion of an AOA survey were ratified around July 17 and are pending panel review. She said the Hastings Library has a tentative opening date of Sept. 9 but that work on Main Street encountered soil contamination at 301 North Main (the old Stanton Motor property), which has delayed some site work and will require remediation and additional phases to address drainage and sewer issues.
