Ottawa County adopts multiple administrative policies; safety‑belt policy pulled for statute review

County Clerk Tammi Cox presented the packet of policy revisions to commissioners during the meeting and the board discussed the provisions. Commission records show the motion to adopt the listed policies passed on a 3‑0 vote, with Commissioner Duane Morris moving and Commissioner Carla Grund seconding.
One proposed policy, 40.06a (Safety Belt Use), was pulled from the package for further research into the applicable Kansas statute. Tammi Cox said the commission asked staff to confirm statutory requirements before adopting a safety‑belt policy; commissioners agreed that additional legal review is needed before final action.
The action leaves the other policy updates in effect as adopted. The clerk will return the safety‑belt item to the agenda after staff and legal review and any recommended edits are prepared.
