Board members raised repeated concerns about safety incidents involving e-bikes and e-motos in town. The manager said staff will prepare a report outlining the existing law, what local authorities can do, and potential enforcement approaches; the report will be shared with the police chief and the board. "This report might also show if we as a community don't have certain authority from the state to impose certain regulations, we can...lobby the state," Monks said.
Members suggested combining the e-bike discussion with the planned bike-hub agenda item and inviting the bike-hub operators and the police chief to present. The board directed staff to produce the legal overview and suggested enforcement options, and to consider outreach and educational opportunities with the bike hub for public information and rider education.
