Public Works Director Chris Smith explained two dilapidated housing permits that reduce landfill fees for property owners who choose not to rebuild and offer reimbursement if they do. Smith described the program mechanics: the permit can provide half off the landfill tonnage rate if owners choose not to rebuild and up to $1,500 back if they rebuild.
The commission approved Disposal of Housing Permit #47 for 419 W 4th and Dilapidated Housing Permit #48 for 414 W 5th by unanimous 3-0 votes. The motions were made by Commissioner Carla Grund and seconded by Commissioner Duane Morris. The permit approvals are intended to lower demolition disposal costs and encourage remediation or rebuilding under county guidelines.
