The Dixon City Council on Sept. 22 approved a second amendment to the public‑private partnership (PPP) with Medic Ambulance that raises the unit‑hour value and increases the city's quarterly payments.
Acting Fire Chief Randy Schaffer described the PPP history and the amendment’s financial effect: the unit‑hour reduction was increased to 25,748 hours and the unit‑hour value to $168.70 per hour. Schaffer said the change increases Dixon’s quarterly PPP payment from $73,240.30 to $76,902.03—an annual increase of $14,646.92, roughly 5%—and that the amendment supports the fire department’s advanced life support (ALS) staffing and equipment. "The 2nd amendment increases the unit hour reduction to 25,748 hours and increases the unit hour value to $168.70 per hour," Schaffer said.
Council approved the amendment by roll call. Schaffer noted the PPP is subject to a new contract process in spring 2026 and that participating cities are coordinating bids and subcontractor arrangements.
