Dixon moves forward with ESRI enterprise GIS, staff estimate ongoing costs near $100,000/year

The Dixon City Council approved phase 2 of a multi‑phase geographic information system (GIS) project on Sept. 22 intended to create an ESRI enterprise environment for city data, mapping and applications.
Engineering project lead Jordan Santos explained the work will establish servers, digital hardware and initial software and create a stable environment for departmental datasets. Santos said phase 1 included a needs assessment by Vestra and that phase 2 will build the foundational enterprise shell so departments can add data and generate work orders and maps. "Crap in is crap out," Santos said, urging careful data development during buildout.
Councilors asked about total project cost and ongoing expenses; staff said the total project could be in the low hundreds of thousands and estimated recurring costs—primarily ESRI licensing and a dedicated staff position or consultant management—might be roughly $100,000 per year. The council approved the resolution and related budget adjustments by roll call.
