The proclamation, adopted by motion of Sam VanLoon and seconded by Marc Rice, states that community corrections is "an essential part of the justice system" and that professionals in pretrial, probation and parole supervise adult and juvenile offenders, provide services and referrals, partner with community agencies, and promote prevention, intervention and restorative justice.
The proclamation was signed by Chairperson Shane Nickerson and Commissioners Sam VanLoon and Marc Rice and encourages citizens to recognize achievements of community corrections professionals during the designated week.
