During public comment, a participant raised concerns about substitute-pay differentials and certification recognition, saying an associate’s degree had not been counted toward higher substitute pay.
“I was told that my associate's degree would not count… Non degree classroom substitutes are paid $70 per full day. Degreed substitutes, owing a college degree, are $85 per full day,” the speaker (S3) said, urging clarification of district policy. The board did not immediately change pay policy during the meeting but heard the concern and indicated staff would follow up.
Later in the agenda, district administrators presented staffing recommendations for the 2025–26 school year, citing openings the board will consider: an elementary music teacher, an assistant band director, a special‑education resource teacher (expected to be filled), and one remaining elementary vacancy after tonight’s approvals. Officials said certified staff counts are improving and that recommended hires will be posted and presented under routine personnel actions.
The meeting record does not show a policy change on substitute pay; board members asked staff to gather documentation and next steps rather than adopting a new pay rule on the spot.
